TANGOYO (Tango and Yoga)

A new opportunity to learn tango, educate oneself to the difference between rhythms in music, and sweeten body movement with exercises and breath work, yoga sometimes similar to therapeutic physical exercise.

We do some floor exercises, also movements using an exercise ball, and barre.

It’s a workout for the brain to lift mood, improve memory, and inspire neurons. Exercise for the body to tone muscles, strengthen the core, and improve flexibility and coordination. A wonderful healthful experience for non-dancers and dancers who desire improved balance, proprioception, and exercise that you can do at the low to medium level you prefer. Non-dancers welcome! No partner is needed.

You can see more and video here!

I and my tango partner, Ezequiel Agreda, welcome you to this interesting workout! We have more than 40 years of tango experience between the two of us!

We need  a minimum of three people for the class.

Tango teaches far more than steps. It teaches presence. Trust. Resilience. Humility. Connection. Acceptance. Courage. Stillness.

Wear any shoes you like except for sandals, but if you have leather soles some moves may be easier for you. ( dance sneakers or low heel dance shoes are great) or wear socks. If you prefer barefoot,  I have socks you can borrow if you don't have socks.  Wear comfortable gym pants or leggings, skirts are not great as we may do floor exercises, and also it is important that we teachers see what your legs are doing.

The class is more mentally challenging than physically, and it promises to be interesting, but not "hard."

My room is air conditioned, because the dance salon can get hot in late afternoon; if you are sensitive to cool air, dress accordingly.

I always have something to drink ( water, mineral water, maybe tea) and snacks for our classes.

The first class in this series was free, and the cost now is 200 pesos per class.

The next free class will be on August 13, at the beginning of the next series.

Registration happens when you respond with your intention to attend class, and then you will get directions and confirmation!

Class is in my beautiful dance salon at Casa Sueño Azul , Los Frailes, 15 minute by car from Centro. See you 4:00 PM, July 9.

Warmly,

Christina Johnson
